Showcasing Tracey Alley in Works in Progress

The Facts:

Tracey Alley gives us the facts from down-under about her life, so far.

I was born and raised in the paradise that is
Queensland, Australia’s Gold Coast. Land of pristine, crystal clear waters, golden beaches and some of the best surfing in the world. Ironically, I never learned how to swim. I had a very traumatic experience when I was about 3 and nearly drowned and that pretty much killed the ocean for me for many, many years. In fact I’ve only just started taking swimming lessons so that I can get a scuba diving certificate.

I’m one of four girls, all extremely talented in their own ways, in fact my older sister Cynthia, our second, is an incredible artist and does spectacular portraits. I’m always trying to get her to share her talent with the world. Like most sisters we fought, laughed, played practical jokes and generally had a wonderful childhood. Our Mum was a gifted storyteller who would make up tales for us that were delightful and enchanting. I guess that’s where I get my love of writing and fantasy.

I have a small house that I share with a snobby Siamese cat and two adorable Tibetan Spaniels so tend to live in chaos most of the time. I love to travel, meet new people, while experiencing new and different things. I like to set myself a challenge every year – some are good and some are bad, but all have been an experience. This year’s challenge is scuba diving. We’ll see how that goes but I really want to explore the underwater world.

The story:
My current work in progress is also something of a challenge as I’m switching genres from fantasy to a mystery/thriller/suspense novel. Tentatively titled The Jenny Factor the story is about twin sisters one of whom goes missing. The problem is that the missing twin, Jenny, is a little bohemian, a little flaky and terribly irresponsible. She has ‘disappeared’ in the past only to come back from some exotic holiday somewhere or from researching a story for her work as a freelance writer.

Beth, the other twin, is the responsible, reliable twin who has become accustomed to her twin’s often strange lifestyle. But this time it feels different and the novel revolves around Beth's search for Jenny. As I’m working on it I’m loving the characters and their differences more and more. The ending is a huge twist.

I realise I’m taking a bit of a chance in switching to such a completely different genre, but it’s something I really want to see if I can pull off. After I’ve finished The Jenny Factor I will probably return to Kaynos, the fantasy land I created, that I love so much. There are still so many stories to be told there that I will probably always return there periodically. However, I also want to stretch my wings as a writer and see if I can attract an audience in multiple genres. Indie publishing gives authors the freedom to write the stories they want to write, so I may as well take advantage of it.

The Facts:
On a warm summer morning in 1962, G. R. Holton was born in a little town in Massachusetts.  I am the second eldest in a family of eight children. I have five sisters and two brothers. I am happily married and living in eastern Tennessee.

Growing up was hard due to the areas we lived in, but the whole time as a child, I would engulf myself in comic books and anything to do with science fiction. I decided though that I wanted to be a police officer and joined the military. After a training accident and I had my first major breakdown which put me out of the military.

I was 23 years old when I was first diagnosed with having Bipolar Disorder. I was told that I could no longer work. I thought that life was pretty much over.  But in 1999  I met my soul mate, Charlotte. She brought me to know Christ and life started looking up, though the frequent battles with bipolar. made life hard. I took an interest in computer games to pass the time, and then one day I made a friend, Marlene Milton, on one of those online games with chat. after a few weeks of talking, I met her husband, Derek Milton, a movie director.

He gave me a couple of his screenplays to read and I was hooked. I knew at that point I wanted to try writing.  Derek was right there to help me. One night I had a dream of three teens on another planet and in a cave. This was it; I knew what had to be done. I sat down at the computer and over the course of three months, I had written my first book, Journey to the Edge.  I couldn’t stop there, so I continued writing and Guardians Alliance was born.  I reworked Journey to the Edge and have now released Soleri. My latest is Deep Screams, a Science Fiction/Horror Thriller.

I hope you enjoy reading my dreams as much as I have in dreaming them.

The story:

Oh boy, the cover is ready for us. A sneak peek- you guys.

 THE STORY'S PLOT

 Deep Screams:
In the year two-thousand-one hundred-forty- five, Earth had finally gotten past its differences and the Earth Coalition was formed. The Coalition has decided that a space station would be launched into deep space to find a new Earth. The team would be on a twenty year mission to find other planets outside of their solar system that could be inhabited.

After they had been in space for six years, all of the signals from the Omega Space Station had suddenly stopped after being engulfed by a strange red cloud formation. Not knowing what might had happened, the Coalition called for a new crew to intercept the space station and ascertain what had happened. They were to do whatever was necessary to bring the station back online.
The new crew found the Omega, but little did they know it was not the space station that was dead and they were not to be alone. It seems that the spirits of two of the original team members were still on the station. One benevolent spirit just trying to get off the ship. But the other, a quite evil spirit, was out to destroy them all.
Take a ride along with them as they try to bring the station back on line and stay alive in the process.

What is WIP?

                       Work   In     Progress
The blog is a showcase for authors to share what they currently are working on. You will read as they create. Will the finished product that you hold in your hand and read months or maybe a year from now be as you imagined? I wonder and perhaps you will too.

Please leave a comment whether- pro or con it helps. Authors live for feedback from their readers and that my dear guests are you. Hope you enjoy.
